Insurance/Authorization Specialist - Medical Office
Job Summary:
We are a busy pediatric therapy clinic currently looking for an outgoing and well-organized individual to join our team! We are in need of a part-time Insurance Specialist, 20 hours a week. This is a fast-paced job requiring attention to detail and excellent customer service to coordinate care between our therapists, doctors referrals and insurance companies.
Details:
Location: Canby, Oregon: (possible remote after 6 months in office)
Hours: Part-Time: 20 hours, Monday - Thursday, 5 hours day
Compensation: $21.00 -$22.00/hour DOE 
  • Paid Sick leave.

Job duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for verifying insurance coverage prior to client’s first appointment and submit for authorization when required by insurance company.
  • Daily verifying schedule for next day visits for authorization and request more visits or reports as necessary to continue treatment and notify office specialists and therapists.
  • Verify insurance and diagnosis codes of new referrals in insurance New Referrals.
  • Monitor the Authorization and RX tab in Fusion and do whatever necessary to resolve.
  • Requests more authorizations for clients to continue treatment.
  • Request prescriptions and doctor signature with reports from Medical Records.
  • Send request to PCP for new diagnosis code as requested by therapist.
  • Calling parents to discuss benefits, issues.
  • Return any parent or PCP calls.
  • Maintain HIPPA compliant protocol.
  • Assist billing with denied claims, calling to find out why and making sure they are reprocessed or submit for retro authorization.
  • Assist billing with sending DMAP clinicals or any clinical requests from any insurance.
  • Assist billing with compiling and send appeals requests when needed.
  • Answer any incoming insurance calls or emails from other clinics, families, PCP offices.
  • Research special requests from therapists (such as intensives, 2x week, coordination of multiple services and multiple insurance) parents and office specialists. 
  • Assist the Clinic Director when requested. 
  • Assist Medford clinic when requested.
  • Other tasks, duties and responsibilities that may be assigned at any time.
  • Pre-employment background check required once job offer has been made.
Required Skills:
  • Prominent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in a stressful environment.
  • Motivated self-starter, highly detail-oriented, with great work ethic.
Education and Experience:
  • Medical Billing experience required.
  • Knowledge of ICD codes and CPT coding for OT/PT/ST, mental health therapy and alternative care preferred.
