NR Consulting is Hiring a CNC Operator Near Houston, TX

The CNC Machinist - Lathe/Mill in our Technology Center operates a CNC/Conventional Turning and/or Milling center (vertical, horizontal or universal) for fabrication of metallic and nonmetallic parts that hold to the high-quality machine standards required.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Follow a structured method in manufacture of components
  • Have ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Read and understand job programs / readouts (G&M code prog as applicable to CNC machining)
  • Prove unproven programs on Job Set-up, editing, offsetting, etc., as required (as applicable to CNC machining)
  • Undertake operations including screw cutting, tapping, groove cutting, slotting, drilling, reaming, eccentric turning etc. (as applicable to conventional machining)
  • Fully utilizing equipment such as a jaw chuck, steady v-blocks, dividing head etc., in the performing of tasks (as applicable to conventional machining)
  • Fully Inspect own work using imperial and/or metric measuring equipment
  • Produce work of a high standard, including the Deburring and Etching operations in completion of work components
  • Work largely unsupervised and be highly self-motivated
  • Flexible in working requirements as per business needs
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and comply with all QHSE Policies and procedures.
  • Operate overhead and pillar type cranes/Lifting equipment

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Post-Apprenticeship experience in on or more of the following machine shop disciplines: turning / milling / horizontal boring / spark erosion / honing or tool making
  • Manual and / or CNC experience
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, manufacturing methods and tooling.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of 'G' 'M' code programming (as applicable to CNC).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn.
  • Attention to detail, neat and organized.
  • Ability to work in shifts and overtime (weekends included) as required. Flexible in working requirements as per business needs.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
  • Physical Demands: Good general fitness and health.

For this position, we can offer the following work patterns:

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evening shift
