Position Overview
The Human Resources team, located in Fairmont, West Virginia, is seeking an HR Business Partner. This position is accountable for assisting with Human Resources duties related to all facets of labor relations, recruitment, benefits, learning and development, employee engagement, and compensation within the Fairmont facility and to assist with various projects as requested. The HRBP will report directly to the HR Manager.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Support EHS in training efforts.
  • Help build a strong culture within the plant by working with the leadership team and hourly employees to ensure that employees feel valued and engaged.
  • Work on projects geared toward improving employee morale.
  • Cultivate an excellent working relationship with internal as well as external contacts.
  • Provide direction to staff and union regarding employee benefits.
  • Conduct group and/or personal training sessions on HR systems such as Cornerstone, Concur, Kronos, etc.
  • Identify and hire candidates for job openings.
  • Build employee engagement and efficiency
  • Assist with Kronos timekeeping and payroll administration.
  • Maintain records and process admin of new hires, promotions, terminations, transfers, layoffs, and recalls.
  • Conduct new hire orientation.
  • Prepare reports and maintaining records for: monthly hours, temporary work hours, employee levels and labor costs, employee turnover, DOL employment statistics, shift leader overtime, vacation accrual, education tuition assistance, leased employees, and demographics for staff and union employees.
  • Enter purchase requisitions and receive PO’s in SAP
  • Be a strategic partner to the Plant Manager and plant leadership team bringing expertise in HR
  • Provide and ensure efficient, day-to-day HR administration and operations
  • Assist managers with special projects.
  • Assist with contractual issues, providing historical context when applicable
  • Work with union committee to provide requested information
  • Maintain grievance files; maintain hourly departmental seniority rosters
  • Post job/training bids; maintain records
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources or related field
  • 3 years in personnel related field
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Experience in a union environment
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to deal expertly with employees in all levels of the organization
  • Ability to perform work accurately, independently, and in a highly organized fashion with outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of own actions and decisions
