Not-For-Profit Hospital Corporation is Hiring a Cardiac Sonographer (PRN) Near Washington, DC

Performs diagnostic echocardiography imaging exams on patients to obtain quality exam/procedures as ordered by Licensed Independent Practitioner(s). Clearly explains exam/procedure and assures physical and psychosocial safety of all patients. Reviews images/exams to ensure appropriate diagnostic quality and that reason for exam/procedure is achieved via diagnosis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform echocardiograms, or ultrasound imaging, to evaluate different aspects of the heart.
  • Review patient files and must be familiar with basic cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify any abnormalities.
  • Clearly explains ultrasound/cardiac exam/procedures to patients.
  • Confirm that images meet requirements of Cardiologist.
  • Presents exam/procedure images to Cardiologist for clinical interpretation
  • Ensures that inventories are properly managed
  • Assures that patient information and images are sent to the PACS and EMR systems correctly.
  • Performs duties as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer as required.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Measurement Criteria:

  • Clearly and effectively explains, knows, and informs anyone entering the Cardiac suite about the exam/procedure that is about to be performed.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to cardiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper identification on all images.
  • Maintains patient Cardiac US HLD “log” documenting correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care. a. patient’s full name b. patient’s MR number c. examination performed
  • Demonstrates ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the Licensed Independent Practitioner’s orders.
  • Performs proper computer skills and shows working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges and profiles.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Pay: $42.15 - $45.60 per hour
