Northwest Mechanical Group is Hiring a Construction Project Coordinator Near Canby, OR

Are you looking to apply your expertise in coordinating trade construction projects, staying on top of budget and timelines, and supporting the field team with the administrative support and resources needed to complete their projects?

We are hiring a Construction Project Coordinator to join our team at Northwest Mechanical Group, a family-owned business based in Canby, OR. Wepride ourselves in taking care of our employees and providing exceptional commercial refrigeration, HVAC, and plumbing construction in the PNW.

Details:

  • Location: Canby, Oregon (onsite at the office with occasional job-site visits)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7AM-4PM
  • Pay Range: $30-$37/hour
  • Benefits: We offer 100% employer paid medical, dental, & vision benefits for our employees. In addition, we provide 2 weeks of PTO, 8 paid holidays and a 401K with up to a 4% employer match.

Day to day: This role is responsible for ensuring our new construction HVAC and refrigeration projects (typically in supermarkets and retail settings) run smoothly, from start to finish. Here’s what the general scope of your role would look like:

  • Work closely with our project managers, foremen, clients, architects, engineers, subs, and vendors to keep everyone on the same page and move projects forward according to budget and project timelines.
  • Create, build out, and keep new projects up to date in our software systems.
  • Coordinate schedules with commercial customers, obtain permits, source construction materials, and manage relationships with subcontractors.
  • Assist the Project Manager in ordering and returning any necessary equipment to get the job done, along with any special tools needed.
  • Keep all project documentation up to date, including: RFP’s, RFI’s, change orders, progress reports, safety records, closeout paperwork, and weekly timesheets.
  • Assist the Project Manager in implementing solutions for problems that arise on projects.
  • Assist Project Manager in monitoring expenses and tracking costs to ensure projects stay on budget; including project hours, material costs, and WIP.
  • Work with our accounting team to monitor pricing and contract agreements for suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist Project Manager in coordinating and running weekly construction meetings.
  • Work closely with the Union 290 for any Technician support and training requirements.
  • Assist Project Manager in enforcing safety protocols, setting up safety meetings, and ensuring installers follow OSHA regulations and NWMG safety standards.
  • Assist Project Manager and Estimator with quoting projects as needed.
  • Performing spontaneous site visits.
  • Supporting with Technician reviews.
  • Serving as back up support to other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Collaboration – Can you effectively work with others to get a job done? Even if it might not be the way you’d do it, can you still be effective with others?
  • Ability and willingness to pivot – Can you understand bigger objectives of the company as a whole, and pivot/help out where needed? And understand that you’ll receive that same support back?

Technical requirements:

  • 2 years of trade construction project coordination experience in similar trade such as: HVAC, plumbing, electric, etc. required.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, contracts, proposals, and estimates.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required.
  • Ability to become proficient in various project management software and customer/vendor portals required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or construction management or equivalent focus preferred; High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses, Certifications and Pre-Employment:

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record to visit job sites.
  • Pass pre-employment background check and drug screen upon hire.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Team Dynamic: Out of our entire company which consists of about 40 employees, this position will work closely with our CEO, Project Manager, Foreman, and Estimators that makes sure new HVAC and Refrigeration construction jobs run smoothly.
