Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH), in Chipley, FL, is seeking a Full Time experienced, energetic, strong and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care for patients in support with the medical Providers, during the night shift, in our Med Surg Unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Work closely with other Nurses and Nursing Assistants to divide care tasks for patients.
  • Provides direct patient care in an organized and timely manner. Demonstrates necessary skills in providing age appropriate care and documents per unit policy.
  • Initiates and assists with emergency measures, identifies life-threatening arrhythmias and demonstrates knowledge of ACLS guidelines.
  • Thorough understanding of all equipment on acute care units, including but not limited to; beds, scales, IV pumps, enteral feeding pumps, SCDs, respiratory equipment, etc.
  • Initiates and maintains a sterile field and assist the physician as necessary with suturing, chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, etc.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age specific criteria, patient clinical condition and safety policy.
  • Performs daily/nightly narcotic medication reconciliation checks with another licensed nurse to verify correct administration/documentation of scheduled drugs.
  • Performs AccuChek testing per policy, ensures that controls are dated with opened and expiration date; responds and documents any actions taken in response to results.
  • Maintains and updates patient charts per unit policy. Checks each chart for completeness prior to releasing record to health information.
  • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Provides a safe environment for patients and family members. Reduce the risk of patient falls by keeping patient rooms and areas free of excess clutter.
  • Complies with infection control standards.
  • Ensuring all confidentiality and privacy rights of residents are observe.
  • Supports and promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values; adheres to all hospital policies and procedures; commits to the Standards of Conduct; maintains professional appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and in good standing with the Board of Nursing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion
  • Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension
  • Good collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
  • Keen attention to detail
  • In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
  • Follow all established Federal, State and Local rules, regulations and guidelines.
