Registered Nurse Unit Manager

Department: Nursing Administration

Reports to: Director of Nursing

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift/ Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8:00-4:30 (On-Call 24 hours)

FLSA: Salaried

Job Summary:

The RN Unit Manager is responsible for a 60 bed SNF unit and oversees and manages nurses and certified staff in the delivery of care on the unit. They ensure that the unit runs efficiently, safely and effectively supervising nursing staff during their daily duties and ensure assessments and orders are completed per MD orders as well as collaborate with nursing administration to ensure optimal functioning of the unit as a whole. This nurse reports directly to the Director of Nursing and assists with evaluating staff performance, maintaining and restoring the health of the resident, managing daily treatments and schedules, enforcing health and safety of all staff and residents on said unit, evaluating and adjusting treatment plans and plan of care based on resident condition, meeting and enforcing federal, state and company policy and procedure and guidelines, completing admission and discharge assessments, delivering hands on care and medication administration as needed, working in collaboration with the Director of Nursing on any issues, acting as al liason between families and healthcare staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing a skilled nursing unit and overseeing nursing staff and residents.
  • Daily monitoring of nursing documentation per facility and state and federal guidelines.
  • Evaluating and adjusting treatment plans based on resident conditions.
  • Reviewing and educating staff on performance reviews.
  • Maintaining and restoring the health of the resident, advocate for residents and staff.
  • Admission and discharge assessments per policy.
  • Medication administration as needed, this position requires on call
  • Assist DON with any administrative related duties.
  • Liason between families and healthcare staff.
  • Must be available to work on call 24 hours including weekends. 

Required Experience:

  • Must be organized, reliable, and detailed oriented
  • Ability to thrive in a face-pace environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to priortize and work independently and adapt to changing conditions
  • Excellent communincation skills is a must
  • Working knowledge of computers and software

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Florida
  • Must have at least (1) year of experience in healthcare management
  • Must have proven leadership abilities
  • Must have great verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have clinical experience with a knowledge base of long term care
  • Must have interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to handle pressure
