THE POSITION: The Northwest Arkansas Childrens Shelter seeks a passionate, hands-on, results-driven professional to serve in the position of Human Resource Generalist. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources. The Human Resource Generalist will participate in daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing shelter policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Conduct reference, credential, and criminal background checks for all employees.
• Facilitates new employee orientation.
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Report all new hires to the State of Arkansas and maintain all active and inactive personnel files per state licensing standards.
• Maintain and distribute the staff roster.
• Monitor and distribute employee service recognition awards.
• Process and complete employee payroll, as well as Paid Time Off (PTO) maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain the Time and Attendance module of Paycom.
• Coordinate and distribute insurance/benefit information via Employee Navigator.
• Performs routine and complex tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred. Bachelors degree in human resources management preferred.
• Minimum of five years of professional office management experience with a clear track record of meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
• Demonstrated experience managing human resource function and payroll processes.
• Basic accounting transaction skills.

• Proficient in accounting software packages and Microsoft Office, Paycom and ADP a plus.

The demands described are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Tasks may involve walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting for long periods of time.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass all criminal history and child maltreatment background checks.
• Must submit to pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens when directed.
• Valid drivers license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record required to drive shelter vehicle for shelter business.
• Must maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all Childrens Shelter residents information in accordance with NWACS policy and all applicable federal and state laws/regulations.
• Attend and participate in mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and all other events, as required.
• Set, maintain, and communicate appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
• Complete all required documentation in a timely manner per NWACS procedures.
