Welcome!
Northwest ADHD Treatment Center is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Therapist (NPT) to join our team!
Northwest ADHD Treatment Center began the NPT role approximately two years ago with two goals in mind: provide psychiatric nurse practitioners with robust training and consultation to integrate behavior therapy into their prescribing practice, and to increase availability to psychotherapeutic services for Northwest ADHD Treatment Center patients.
What does a Nurse Practitioner Therapist Do?
Nurse Practitioner Therapists are best suited to provide care to those who need the gold standard of ADHD care: a combination of psychotherapy and medication management. NPTs also learn to conduct ADHD evaluations to the same standards as other Northwest ADHD Treatment Center providers. Patients who are evaluated and either have need or interest in only medication management, or only psychotherapy, can be referred internally to other members of our interdisciplinary team. To provide psychotherapy and medication management, our NPTs typically schedule full hour appointments with most of their returning patients, allowing adequate time to assess and modify medication impact and benefits, as well as time for psychotherapy engagement.
Who is a good fit for the Nurse Practitioner Therapist Role?
Any psychiatric nurse practitioner who has a desire to integrate therapy into their routine practice is an excellent fit! The role includes weekly 1:1 meetings with our Director of Behavioral Health, as well as group meetings with other NPTs to discuss behavioral aspects of cases. We realize that psychotherapy is often an area where many PMHNPs desire deeper training and knowledge, and we aim to provide that! Prior to beginning employment, we also assist the new NPT in completing various trainings on ADHD and psychotherapy.
Candidates preferably have 2 years experience assessing and providing medication management services to children or adults with a range of mental health concerns including ADHD, mood, and anxiety disorders. Newly licensed providers with a desire to develop a specialty in ADHD treatment are also encouraged to apply!
Organization Background
Our clinic was founded in 2014 and is strongly-focused on differential diagnosis, behavioral interventions, and medication management. Our assessment process is extensive, including a series of 4 visits by behavioral health staff before referral to the PMHNP. The PMHNP then conducts a psychiatric assessment before making medication recommendations and providing ongoing medication management. Expected case load is 8-14 patients per day with 90 minute intakes and 30 minute follow up appointments.
Our approach is team-driven. The PMHNP will be trained to provide CBT interventions for ADHD and is encouraged to grow as a therapist with regular consultation with experienced psychologists if desired.
Please note that this position is designed to serve those physically-based in and around the state of Oregon. Presently our practice utilizes both in office and telehealth appointments. PMHNPs may choose to work in office or remotely, or a combination of both. Candidates must have an Oregon license and DEA, and be physically located in Oregon to render services.
