Department Support Assistant- Community & School Health Initiatives

Northridge Hospital Medical Center

We are seeking a dedicated Survivor Advocate to join our team and support survivors of human rights abuses for the 'Mission Ministry Funds United Against Violence SoCal Anti-Violence Educations and Survivor Advocate Planning Grant.' The Survivor Advocate will play a crucial role in providing advocacy, support, and resources to individuals who have experienced human rights violations, including but not limited to trafficking, violence, discrimination, and exploitation. This role will require a compassionate and empathetic individual who is committed to upholding the rights and dignity of survivors. This position must maintain a high level of confidentiality, and candidates will possess a high degree of flexibility, maturity, empathy, compassion, and the ability to work independently, as well as work well on teams. 

Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed support to survivors through individual counseling and support group sessions.
  • Participate in NHMC and GMHHC team meetings and coalition meetings.
  • Interact with the community at large.
  • Develop relationships, and act as a liaison with agencies and other community resources that can serve as linkages and referral sources for hospitals and the developing violence prevention coalitions in the hospital service areas.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with survivors.
  • Contribute to the development of programs and initiatives aimed at preventing human rights violations.
Qualifications
  • Experience in working with victim/survivor populations and/or providing community member-centered services.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • BSW or BA in social work or related field preferred.
  • LA City Fire Safety card required. (obtain 90 days from start date)
