Duties and Responsibilities:

The part-time ASA I for the Language, Speech and Hearing Center is responsible for front office duties during peak times and Saturdays, and a contact person for students, clients/patients, faculty, and clinical educators. The part-time ASA I is responsible for general office duties such as answering phones, checking in clients/patients, scheduling client/patient appointments, collecting fees and co-pays, printing invoices and receipts, and responding to requests from student clinicians or faculty members. The part-time ASA I works Mon-Thursday 3-7pm, and Saturdays 8am to 1pm.

  • Responds to clients and students who walk into the clinic, call the clinic for assistance, or come in for a scheduled appointment with an audiologist or a speech pathologist.
  • Acts as primary contact for clients/patients on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
  • Under guidance of Center Coordinator and ASA II, processes intake forms for perspective clients.
  • Under guidance of Center Coordinator and ASA II, accepts payments for services and merchandise and co-pays; provides invoices or receipts. 
  • Under guidance of the Center Coordinator and ASA II, participates in insurance verification for perspective clients/patients.
  • Under guidance of Center Coordinator and ASA II maintains the electronic files of clients in a manner consistent with HIPAA (the health information portability and accountability act).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

  • Is able to speak Spanish at a business level
  • Is respectful to the hard of hearing, deaf, special needs populations, the elderly, and parents or family members of children with special needs.
  • Is tolerant of multiple requests for information, is patient when assisting others.
  • Is able to use email, phones, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Can learn medical record keeping, and the various web-based formats used at the LSHC.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule:

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

Anticipated hiring range: $16.68/hr - $18.00/hr

Full pay range: $16.85/hr - $20.68/hr

Time Base: Part-Time

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO PASS A THOROUGH DEPARTMENT (BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND LIVE SCAN).
