Position Summary: This position fulfills the Arboretum’s mission by providing support to Arboretum volunteers and the Executive Director. General functions of Volunteer Coordinator include developing a consistent recruiting, onboarding, and retention process for volunteers. Arboretum volunteers are recruited to do a variety of tasks from gardening to special projects, events, and administrative tasks. Volunteer opportunities are available year-round and contribute to the overall mission of the Northland Arboretum which is to remain an accessible, welcoming greenspace and nature center for the entire community.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Education

· High School Diploma (or equivalent)

· Two-year technical degree in a related field is highly preferred

Experience

· 2 years of related support experience.

· Experience working with design software such as Publisher, Adobe, Canva, etc.

· Must be computer savvy with experience in Microsoft Office Suite

· Experience working with a non-profit preferred.

· Experience with customer service or donor management software preferred.

· Must possess a valid Minnesota Drivers License

Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Attend staff meetings and prioritize tasks based on other department needs

· Provide guidance to all volunteers and delegate tasks

· Provide excellent communication to volunteers and ensure a great volunteer experience with the organization

· Recruit additional volunteers

· Retain current volunteers

· Check email and respond accordingly

· Log all incoming volunteer hours and report totals to the Executive Director monthly

· Create a volunteer onboarding experience

· Develop a database of volunteers which showcases their talents, availability, and engagement with the Arboretum

· Develop positive working relationship with Arboretum staff and volunteers

· Create Power Point presentations, marketing collateral, and social media content as needed for volunteer needs

· Manage electronic records including volunteer information, photo content, forms and documents necessary for ongoing operations.

· Communicate volunteer schedule with Arboretum team utilizing Outlook calendar

· Manage Volunteer Appreciation Month by planning a recognition event

· Work with Board of Directors as needed

· Sit on Events Committee meetings to understand volunteer needs

· Be present during volunteer events, fundraising events, and outreach opportunities.

· Accommodate hours as needed to serve the Arboretum in the best interest of its mission.

· Cover Front Desk when needed

· Answering multiple line phone

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.50 - $16.28 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 14 per week
