We are seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to join our ARMHS team. The purpose of the Mental Health Practitioner is to teach and support symptom management skills as defined by the Minnesota comprehensive Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) consistent with the goals and philosophy of Northern Pines Mental Health Center to assigned adults who have functional impairment due to a mental health condition.

Essential Functions include:

  • The usual duties performed include both direct and collaborative services which are rehabilitative and enable clients to develop and enhance:
    • Psychiatric stability,
    • Social competencies
    • Personal and emotional adjustment
    • Independent and community living
  • These services are provided through:
    • Basic social and living skills (individually or in small groups)
    • Community intervention
    • Medication education (referred to designated provider)
  • This position will work collaboratively with other staff to initiate contact with providers mutual to specific clients as appropriate and necessary.
  •  The duties of this position include documentation and obtaining information consistent with ACBS policy. This position requires the development and maintenance of individual client charts.
  • Attend all scheduled consultation, case management, staff and supervision meetings as needed.
  • Transport and assist clients to acquire and maintain necessities of life if this is reflected in the treatment plan.
  • Examples of characteristics issues related to this position may include, but are not limited to: Assist a client in the development and use of coping skills, which allow him/her to complete activates of daily living, i.e. banking, laundry.
  • Follow the ARMHS method of “do with, not for clients” as a way to develop successful and independent living.
  • This position is responsible to complete all documentation in a timely manner, to monitor and document job related transportation expenses and to submit required receipts as specified.

Qualifications include:

  • Must qualify as a mental health practitioner as defined by the Minnesota Department of Human Services in one of the following ways:
    • Has at least 2,000 hours (approximately one year working full-time) of supervised work experience in the delivery of mental health services. OR
    • Holds a master's or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields. OR
    • Holds a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or related fields and completes a practicum or internship that (1) requires direct interaction with adults or children served, and (2) is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.
  • Strong writing and computer skills
  • Travel is a requirement of the position; valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle are required
