Position is located: Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 40.00

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Summary :

The primary responsibility of the Lead Orthopedic Care Manager is to collaborate with all members of the healthcare team to develop and provide a model of care for joint replacement procedures to ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective healthcare services. This role also is responsible for coordinating the appropriate level of care for patients undergoing hip/knee arthroplasty (joint replacement) from the time of scheduling through recovery. This role leads ongoing process improvement with implementation of strategies designed to improve outcomes for joint replacement procedures. It serves as a mentor and coach for Care Management staff by fostering a positive work environment and evaluates staff development. This role demonstrates leadership qualities in the areas of time management, problem solving, decision making, priority setting, delegation, organization, written/verbal communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities :

  • Effectively communicates needed information to Providers.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets data per business needs.
  • Manages / maintains electronic health records in accordance with confidentiality standards and policies.
  • Directly leads work efforts of subordinates and/or peers, guides and advises co-workers.
  • Attends and participates in meetings.
  • Provides logistic, financial, emotional support and guidance to patients.
  • Works to meet patient's psychological, emotional, or physical needs.
  • Identifies and advocates for improvement to processes within the department and organization when identified.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of department's key performance indicators and strives to achieve them. Manages various aspects of staff performance and development and maintains a safe environment complying with policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • Other Duties.

Competencies and Skills

  • 3 years of relative work experience required.
  • Basic Life Support

  • Electronic medical record software.

  • Ability to understand the language used to precisely describe the human body including its components, processes, conditions affecting it, and procedures performed upon it.
  • Spreadsheet application with the ability to use calculations, formulas, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming.
  • Word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, database experience and other computer related skills.
  • Email application with the ability to manage email as well as calendars, managing tasks and contacts, note taking, journaling, and web browsing.
  • Presentation software with the ability to create presentations with the ability to incorporate animation, audio, video, time delays, as well as designing themes and variants with animations and effects.
  • Word process application with the ability to create and edit documents, format, use tables, apply footnoting, create table of contents and mail merge techniques.
