Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging is Hiring a Finance Assistant Near Decorah, IA

Position Summary: The Finance Assistant provides support for the Finance Department through general accounting duties, reporting, preparation, and oversight, as well as administration of payroll for organization. Comply with federal, state and agency policies, procedures, and regulations. Provide leadership in the absence of Director of Finance.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Function as primary payroll administrator.

Prepare cash receipt records and bank deposits.

Accounts payable preparation which includes importing rosters into database.

· Participate in continuing education to ensure up-to-date knowledge base to fulfill responsibilities of the position.

· Participate in cross-training program in Finance Department to ensure continuation of services.

· Assist Director of Finance as requested with analysis, review of accounting records, audit preparation and annual report.

· Other duties as requested from the Director of Finance.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

· Strong interpersonal skills to relate to diverse cultures, older persons, and colleagues.

· Ability to build effective collaborations and partnerships using diplomacy and tact.

· Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills.

· Strong organizational, personnel management and administration skills and an ability to plan, direct, and monitor the work of others and motivate staff.

· Capability to gather and analyze information, and aptitude in judgment when applying/interpreting agency policies and procedures or solving problems.

· An understanding of excel spreadsheets and using computer software.

  • Able to relate respectfully to people from diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, socio-economic status, etc.

· Knowledge of personal computers, ability to operate computer software, and accurate data entry skills.

Required Qualifications:

· A 2-year degree in accounting or equivalent experience in financial accounting and reporting,

Experience in nonprofit accounting preferred.

Required Travel

· Under normal public health conditions, some travel will be required, approximately quarterly. An employee in this position may be required to travel to national conferences, national meetings, and in-person team meetings.

· Occasionally may be required to drive your own vehicle or agency owned vehicle to support program activities.

Physical Demands:

· Essential functions of this position include working with and around other staff; vision acuity (near) for reading computer work; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation and for communicating with staff and clients in person and over the phone; finger dexterity/touch for typing filing etc.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) enter data, or process information for extended periods of time.

· Employee in this position may be required to travel distances and ascending /descending stairs, standing, bending, and stooping, including but not limited to accessing consumer homes as required

· Should possess the ability to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
