North Shore Steel is Hiring a Remote Inside Sales Representative

We are seeking an experienced Inside Sales Representative for our sister company, Ford Steel, in St Louis, MO. This Inside Sales position reports directly to the Branch Manager. This position is responsible for quoting and closing sales of abrasion-resistant plate and bar products and offering all products and services available from Ford Steel. The Company expects the Inside Salesperson to provide the highest level of customer service for developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, teammates, and vendors to maximize profits.
Responsibilities:
  • Responds to all requests promptly from both internal and external customers
  • Develops quotes that maximize profits while remaining competitive in the marketplace
  • Sources products and services as necessary to fulfill orders
  • Maintains strong product knowledge to assist customers and provide the highest level of customer service by learning and anticipating the needs of each customer
  • Meets regularly with the Branch Manager to review sales performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Participates in and assist with training for the commodities that Ford Steel provides
  • Works with outside sales to find and develop new accounts
  • Builds profitable relationships with prospective customers and strengthen relationships with existing customers
  • Develops sales strategies and effective sales practices to increase profitable sales consistently
  • Learns about, understands, and conducts business in a manner consistent with the Company’s Core Values
Qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience in inside sales in Steel, Mining/Quarry, or other related industries
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task based on priorities
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to negotiate successfully
  • Ability to structure work activities with limited direction or guidance
  • Proven track record in sales and customer service
  • Emotional intelligence, passion, adaptability, thoroughness, patience and independence
  • Proven track record of maintaining relationships with existing customers and building business with prospective customers
