North Hills, CA is Hiring a Field Training Officer Near North Hills, CA


SUMMARY:

Field Training Officers (FTOs) are responsible for training new employees and remedial training of existing employees in the field. The new employees will come from the Field Orientation Class and be assigned to Field Training Officers by the Training and Safety Department. Field Training Officers are responsible to train these new employees on all aspects of the field operation through on the job training and in conformance with the training program for new employees.

Field Training Officers are also responsible for properly completing the Training Checklists with the trainee, and processing the checklists to their Regional Training and Safety Manager. The Field Training Officer will report to the Manager on each trainee’s progress to determine the success of his or her training.

This position will be compensated with a training stipend for every trainee who the Field Training Officer evaluates. Training commissions will be paid regardless of the trainee’s final status. Once the trainee completes their evaluation, and all paperwork has been filed properly, the Field Training Officer will receive their training stipend. Trainees will rotate through FTOs at each station so there will be equal opportunity for training stipends.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Report to their Regional Training and Safety Manager
    • Receive information and training from the Manager
    • Report outcome of all trainees to Manager
  • Receive trainee assignments from the Training and Safety Manager
    • Trainees will be assigned to the FTO’s scheduled unit
  • Train new employees on all aspects of Field Operations including but not limited to:
    • Gurney Handling
    • Driving
    • Documentation
    • EMT Operations
    • Radio Communication
    • Company policy adherence
    • Customer Service
    • County specific SOPs
  • Properly complete and process training checklists
    • Make sure the Trainee has completed their section
    • Finish FTO section
    • Discuss achievements and opportunities to improve
    • Provide goals for the Trainee and support as needed to reach their goals

REQUIREMENTS:

  • ­­­­­­Maintain current certification in the following
    • EMT-1 or EMT-P
    • CPR
    • ADL/DL-51
    • Other County Mandated Requirements
  • Must have cleared Probationary Period
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months seniority
  • No significant discipline within the last 6 months
  • Must be within attendance guidelines
  • Must have full time availability

Note: FTO status will be lost if the FTO fails to meet these requirements, fails to represent the department in a professional manner or has significant disciplinary action taken against them at any time during their FTO status, training and non-training related.

TRAINING STIPEND

$125.00 per trainee

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform the following tasks:
    • Walk - frequently, up to 4 hours per day.
    • Run - infrequently, 1-2 minutes per day.
    • Stand - frequently, up to 2 hours per day.
    • Sit - frequently, up to 8 hours per day.
    • Kneel - frequently, 10-15 times per day.
    • Bend - frequently, 10-15 times per day.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 250 Lbs. infrequently (1-3 times per shift)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 150 Lbs. frequently (5-10 times per shift)
  • Must have ability to step up and/ or climb over obstacles
  • Must be able to climb stairs while carrying up to 150 Lbs.
  • Must have adequate hearing acuity to perform job tasks (as delineated in California DMV DL51 medical examination requirements)
  • Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to clearly distinguish colors, shapes, distances, etc. (as delineated in California DMV DL51 medical examination requirements)
  • Must have adequate hand and finger dexterity to grip and hold both large and small items
  • Must have adequate hand and arm strength to grip and lift heavy objects
  • Must be able to tolerate work in an outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
