Description

SUMMARY:The Financial Analyst supports the financial operations of NEKCA, wtih $12 million in revenue that consists of federal, state, and private funders. The Financial Analyst, is responsible for financial accounting, preparing financial reports, training others, updating policies and procedures, and preparing budgets. These duties involve the performance of a variety of financial and analytical review and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal, federal and state regulation and policies along with grant financial requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in developing initial grant budgets, produce financial reports and analyses and ensure full integration with accounting systems of the organization
  • Prepares and submits financial reports to all awarding agencies
  • Track outstanding grants for cash-flow forecast and analysis
  • Mentoring, training, and coaching Program Management, Staff and Accounts Payable within the Finance department 
  • Develop and recommend financial controls and systems for new grants and programs as well as monitoring compliance with grant restrictions and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with OMB circulars applicable to nonprofit organization, such as the "Super Circular". Assist with the development and updating of allocation of indirect costs in accordance with methodology defined in applicable laws, rules and regulations 
  • Assist with process improvement efforts in workflow, policies, procedures, and data system development to create efficiencies in department processes
  • Attend and participate in staff, agency, and service provider meetings deemed necessary for job performance
  • Enter Medicaid billings into our billing system
  • Manage and execute financial activities through the execution of the grant lifecycle (pre-award review, grant process monitoring and award closure)
  • Perform a reconciliation of billings with payments received and follow up with Program Manager to resolve all outstanding issues
  • Prepare journal entries for all grant accounting, including recognition of revenue and receivables as appropriate
  • Maintain schedules of all restricted grants and reconcile with records and general ledger on a monthly basis
  • Recommend adjustments based on reconciliation and probability of non-payment
  • Assist with cash management, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, deposits, transfers, etc
  • Assist with audit, as needed

Requirements

  • BA (preferred) 
  • 1-2 years relevant experience required.
  • Employees in this role are required to undergo a background check in accordance with NEKCA policy, which may include verifying education, employment history, criminal background and driving records.
  • This position requires that employees possess a valid driver's license, favorable driving record results and have access to dependable transportation.
