SUMMARY:

The Early Intervention Associate provides play-based interventions to children and their caregivers using modeling and coaching. These are children that are at risk for or may be experiencing delays in the areas of cognitive, physical, communication, social/emotional or adaptive skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Home or childcare visiting
  • Direct service with child utilizing play
  • Family coaching for child’s caregiver/s
  • Maintain professional documentation of activities performed
  • Participate in screenings, assessments, and evaluations
  • Understanding of Infant & Toddler development
  • Understanding of Part C Early Intervention regulations
  • Participate as a member on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Requirements

  • Must comply with NEKCA policies if hired
  • Staff will be required to authorize and pass NEKCA’s criminal record check process
  • High School diploma, this may include from a vocation or technical education program and at least one year working directly with children birth to five years of age with developmental delays or disabilities; or
  • General Education Diploma and at least two years’ experience working directly with children birth to five years of age with developmental delays or disabilities; or
  • Associates Degree in a health or human services field with at least 6 course credits in early childhood development; or
  • Four (4) years’ experience working directly with children birth to five years of age with disabilities or delays and their families.
  • Valid Vermont driver's license and insurance
  • Knowledge of healthy infant, toddler, and child development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of family-centered philosophy and the ability to translate that philosophy into practice.
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers
  • Experience working with families utilizing coaching and modeling
  • Experience working independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in home visiting
