North Carolina Dept of Insurance is Hiring a Salesforce Administrator Near Wake, NC

Description of Work

Salary Recruitment Range: $81,500 - $105,000
Salary Grade: DT10

Mission of the Industrial Commission
The North Carolina Industrial Commission is vested as a court of exclusive and original jurisdiction by the General Assembly to adjudicate and administer the North Carolina Workers' Compensation Act. The Industrial Commission processes over 65,000 workers' compensation injury reports and claims filed annually under the Act. This responsibility includes overseeing and providing for the trial of contested cases as well as administering non-contested cases. Workers who are injured by accident on the job or who contract an occupational disease receive disability and medical benefits as ordered by the Industrial Commission. The Industrial Commission is also a court of original jurisdiction for litigating tort claims against the State under the North Carolina State Tort Claims Act. Additionally, the General Assembly has mandated the Industrial Commission to provide an adjudicated process for Childhood Vaccine-Related Injury claims, Compensation to Persons Erroneously Convicted of Felonies, and Eugenics claims. It acts as a court of exclusive and final jurisdiction for death claims made by families of law enforcement officers, fire fighters, rescue squad workers and civil air patrol members arising under the Public Safety Employees' Death Benefits Act. Each of these adjudicatory systems requires administration of contested and uncontested claims, review of agreements, and supervision of payment of benefits.
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Information Technology (“IT”) Section promotes and supports the Industrial Commission’s effective use of information technology hardware and software solutions so as to enable the Industrial Commission to fulfill all aspects of its operations. In doing so, the IT Section develops plans and procedures for Industrial Commission technical and operational processes; manages, tracks, maintains, and upgrades Industrial Commission information systems technology hardware and software applications/licenses; monitors Industrial Commission data security and access; and provides technology training and internal end-user hardware, software, and network support to Industrial Commission employees.
Primary Purpose of the Position
Working under the direction of the CIO, this position is responsible for the maintenance and optimization of the Commission’s new case management system, which is built on the Salesforce platform, to include system configuration, maintenance, enhancements and upgrades, testing, and the creation of product documentation. The position will also work with platforms that interface with the Salesforce platform, including Box and web systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • A strong understanding of and experience in configuration aspects of Salesforce, with an appreciation for development and integration aspects of Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of specialized computer development or programming languages such as APEX, JAVA, JavaScript, HTML, and/or CSS; and of coding processes and security measures.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and analyzing existing applications built in a hybrid cloud environment consisting of Salesforce, Box, and multiple other platforms; and identifying areas for process improvement and recommending /implementing solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability reviewing and translating specifications to write and/or code programs which produce desired results, to develop and use appropriate testing protocols, and to use and interpret technical manuals and publications.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and data modeling.
  • Proven creativity and problem-solving skills; ability to work around obstacles and solve problems.
  • Experienced in organizing and implementing a variety of work projects with short and long timeframes.
  • Strong organizational/time management skills; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic, hands-on, with a customer service mentality.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development; or
Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development; or
High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and eight years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
