North Carolina Dept of Insurance is Hiring an Insurance Regulatory Analyst II Near Wake, NC

Description of Work

This posting will fill two positions (60013620 & 60013343)

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.


Mission of the Department of Insurance:

To promote a stable insurance market through unbiased regulation and to protect the lives and property of every citizen in all 100 counties while fostering superior, user-friendly service, courtesy, and respect.


Primary Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of this position is the review of property and casualty insurance rate, rule, and form filings submitted by insurance companies and all other regulated entities to ensure compliance with North Carolina statutes and rules. These insurance products filings consist of both commercial and personal lines of insurance. This position reviews filings that are moderately complex to complex in nature. This position is involved in the training and review of work of less experienced insurance regulatory analysts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of insurance principles and practices and North Carolina insurance laws and regulations.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematics, including the fundamentals of statistics.
  • Experience with insurance rate-making procedures and practices or policy contract and manual provisions.
  • Documented experience interpreting and applying provisions of the insurance laws to rate filings or premium calculations.
  • Experience with Property and Casualty insurance.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business or economics or a related program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in policy and rate examinations, underwriting, claims adjusting work, or financial/marketing analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Qualifications:
Property and Casualty insurance knowledge and experience required.
