Job Description The ideal candidate wants to be intimately involved in transportation operations within retail. We are seeking a strategic thinker with deep knowledge in transportation, particularly with truckload, intermodal, and LTL. This person can use analytical tools such as Excel and Tableau to pull meaning from numbers, is comfortable with using (or learning to use) transportation management system (TMS) software, can communicate effectively with stakeholders, and will hold business partners accountable for performance. We want someone who is motivated, results oriented, committed to providing outstanding customer service, and wants to grow their career as a transportation professional. This position is primarily responsible for supporting our strategic relationships with US based carriers, consolidators, and suppliers and for seeking ways to improve how we deliver freight on time and in full to Nordstrom distribution and fulfillment centers (DCs and FCs). A day in the life… Partner with stakeholders within the supplier community, carrier network, distribution centers, and merchandising to maintain flow of goods Builds, compiles, and analyzes business data and metrics using Tableau, MS Excel and SQL tools Delivers verbal and written reports of projects or managed business processes using Tableau, MS PowerPoint and MS Word to document and present the work content Implement new carriers, processes, and tools to support continuous improvement initiatives Work closely with other members of the Transportation team to maximize operational efficiencies and cost savings Use metrics to identify trends and challenges and to hold carrier and consolidator business partners accountable for performance Conduct RFPs to identify best in class carriers and to negotiate contracts and service level agreements Manage and drive projects related to optimization and growth of First Mile transportation services You own this if you have… Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related discipline 3 years’ experience working in Transportation Strong creative problem-solving skills, business acumen, and customer focus Ability to work cross-functionally and to manage multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced environment Skilled in building strong business partnerships while driving incremental change Ability to use analytical tools to organize and present data is preferred Experience working with a TMS or other complex software applications Advanced Excel, Tableau, and/or SQL skills with an ability to manipulate large quantities of data PC knowledge, including Microsoft Office applications Ability to travel up to 10% annually (3-4 possible trips/year) #LI-EB1 We’ve got you covered… Our employees are our most important asset and that’s reflected in our benefits.
