Come be a part of our Metal Fabrication team as a Press Room Setup Technician. If you are hard-working and self-sufficient, and you like to learn and promote continuous improvement while performing a wide variety of set-up tasks in a busy Press area, this job is for you! You'll learn to perform all the functions of a Machine Operator on our metal stamping equipment and help train others as you become the expert. You'll also play a key role in partnering with the team on efforts to develop new set up techniques, reduce machine setup times, and support quality control by following SPC controls and processes.

What you will get to do

  • Monitor the press setup procedures and follow up on all discrepancies or issues.
  • Setup all products on the various presses, press automation, and associated equipment such as un-coilers, feeders, straighteners, and wire benders.
  • Work closely with Quality Control department to make top quality parts
  • Foster team cooperation and a positive work environment on all shifts through consistent communication, active listening, leadership and follow through.
  • Assist and mentor setup technicians and operators on safe work practices, setup reduction, quality, and standard work practices.
  • Verify all dies, fixtures and other tooling are in proper repair to produce high quality parts. Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Ready dies and tooling for transport between the working and storage locations as dictated by the production schedules.
  • Perform ERP Transactions for tracking of all components, including, but not limited to, BOM components, Raw Material, and Dies to maintain traceability of all.
  • Proactively notify Department leadership of any supply shortages (materials, consumable parts, lubricants, and cleaning supplies)
  • Assist the Department Manager in supervising operators when the supervisor is absent.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient ability to read, interpret, and write English
  • Leadership experience and team-building skills
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Forklift We will train and certify you!
  • Automation (APT) experience
  • Experience utilizing SPC, SMED, 5-S, and other Lean and 6-Sigma Tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Experience and knowledge of full and partial revolution punch presses and ability to perform setups of stamping presses.
  • Experience using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages.
  • Experience reading blueprints
