Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with lots of variety? Then join Nordic Ware as a CNC Set Up and Programming Technician in our Metal Fabrication department! In this role you will perform set ups and programming on our CNC machines and assist creating new programs for our new product lines. This role includes a lot of daily variety and growth opportunities.

What you will get to do:

  • Start all machines and auxiliary equipment according to the production schedule.
  • Set up the CNC work areas according to production schedule.
  • Develop and modify CNC programs in Mastercam using M and G codes.
  • Fill out and print production paperwork such as production sheets and pallet route tags
  • Perform quality inspections of all machines, tools, and first cycle parts, making minor adjustments and repairs as needed.
  • Assist operators to ensure efficiency and quality on all machines and equipment.
  • Train and assist in coordinating the work of machine operators on CNC machines.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance team to ensure processes are documented.
  • Oversee and assist with scheduled cleaning and maintenance of the CNC machines and assigned areas.
  • Active engagement in continuous improvement and safety efforts to ensure increased department standards.
  • Provide performance feedback to management to improve production processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What we are looking for in you;

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in Metal Fabrication operations.
  • 1 years of CNC programming experience required
  • Knowledge of Mastercam preferred
  • Knowledge of automatic blasting machines, CNC machines, and other machinery preferred
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • Good communication skills, ability to read, write and comprehend English at a 3rd grade level; ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well on a team
  • Mechanical aptitude; comfortable working around medium to large machines
  • Must have a reliable record of attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to work overtime during busy times to meet production goals.
  • 1-2 years of experience in leadership position preferred with effective group leader skills desirable.
  • Ability to meet and maintain Northland's forklift certification requirements and safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Willing to continue education in CNC programming or other related topics
