Noblis is Hiring a Remote Linux/Cloud Engineer

Responsibilities

Noblis is seeking a Linux/Cloud Engineer

Builds, designs, implements and refines cloud architectures and provides prescriptive guidance across the network and security. Leads scoping definitions and identifies critical dependencies. Identifies and mitigates technology risks and develops architecture to support processes. Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction. Develops and documents framework for integration and implementation of cloud systems. Understands and determines sizing, capacity planning and requirements for infrastructure, network, and security in the cloud offering.

Solve a variety of structured problems by applying professional standards and Noblis concepts and methodologies. Have knowledge of a particular area and a general awareness of other areas. Working independently with general instruction, apply intermediate skills to deliver high quality work products and services to support projects. Responsible for planning and managing project deliverables and engaging in open-minded interactions with clients and coworkers to deliver results. Responsible for expanding your capabilities in current work and leveraging opportunities to grow through interactions across the organization.

Successful candidate will engage directly with the Enterprise Technologies' EDGE team to provide technical support for Linux-based servers and applications supporting internal Noblis staff and federal government clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure a variety of operating systems and software, including Ubuntu and RHEL/Rocky Linux Servers
  • Provide high-quality monitoring of system, with a focus on monitoring security.Adhere to a rigid change management process to keep the environment running effectively and standing up new applications as requested. 
  • Provide in-depth analysis of performance, perform root-cause analysis and identify potential bottlenecks within the system.
  • Initiate ideas for automation of routine and non-routine tasks to improve efficiencies.

Additionally, the candidate will provide technical support to Noblis’ Enterprise Technologies EDGE group and its associated projects, to include:

  • Installing and configuring Ubuntu, RHEL and/or Rocky Linux servers
  • Installation and configuration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Open-Source Software (OSS)
  • Systems and Security monitoring
  • Change management and User Account Management
  • Implement of automation and new applications
  • Directly interface with Customers and Clients to resolve problems.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for Noblis internal IT applications.
  • Interface with third-party vendor support as required to diagnose and troubleshoot production issues.

Required Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 0-3 years of experience OR Master's degree in a related field with one (1) year of experience OR associate degree with 6 years of experience; OR High School diploma with nine (9) years of experience.
  • Experience with Linux and Application support in a Linux environment.
  • Working experience with at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, Shell, etc. 
  • Experience with cloud computing IaaS/PaaS
  • Must be able to provide support off-hours for production environments.
  • Must be able to receive a Secret level security clearance, but a clearance is not immediately required for the position.

Desired Qualifications

Desired:

  • Amazon Web Services cloud services and certified at least the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner level.
  • Experience working in a server environment.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

Posted Salary Range

USD $67,800.00 - USD $118,700.00 /Yr.
