Job Description:

The Director of Development establishes short-term and long-term partnerships and strengthens existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key communities, which will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of the organization. Under the direction of the Vice President of Development, the Director of Development is responsible for leadership and direction of grants, annual giving campaigns and appeals, annual fundraising events, and the vehicle donation program.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and direction of Development staff.
  • Responsible for fundraising and increasing the visibility of Tommy Nobis Center in the community.
  • Works closely with the Vice President of Development to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive and proactive development plan and budget, focused on expanding and enhancing corporate, foundation and personal relationships and obtaining monetary support for Tommy Nobis Center operations and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the grant identification process, including preparation of well-developed responses to secure programmatic, operating, and strategic planning funding.
  • Provides oversight to the vehicle donation program as a revenue generation tool for Tommy Nobis Center.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards relationships with corporations, foundations, and private donors. Conducts related research to determine cultural compatibility/interest and donation potential.
  • Creates compelling presentations and comprehensive fundraising proposals. Monitors proposal deadlines, prepares and edits proposals, and manages proposal submissions.
  • Makes the "ask" for monetary gifts for the organization.
  • Prepares prospect lists, work plans, and monthly achievement reports for submission to the Vice President of Development and President & CEO.
  • Seeks opportunities and gives informational presentations about Tommy Nobis Center and its programs to external organizations.
  • Manages and oversees CRM database updates, data collection and analysis and is responsible for monitoring/analyzing trends which may affect management decisions and/or strategic objectives.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains annual stewardship plan(s) for donors and strategic partners across the organization.
  • Enhances and oversees annual events (currently Galaxy of Stars) as revenue generators for Tommy Nobis Center. Evaluates and recommends future event options and related vendors.
  • Coordinates volunteers for events and other fundraising opportunities.
  • Prepares budgets, statistical reports, proposals, board presentations, and other materials as required.
  • Remains highly visible in community activities, acting as an organizational representative for local business events, clubs, & associations.
  • Assists with other specific projects as assigned.
