What you can expect to work on…
The Director of Chemistry is accountable for achieving strategy and results in a fast-paced environment by developing and executing research & development and commercial programs. They will provide oversight to the chemistry teams while simultaneously collaborating with the other departments across the organization, including but not limited to accelerator, manufacturing, quality, program management and support services to ensure there is a clear approach to research & development, and commercialization of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in a production environment.
The director is expected to assist in and lead the discussion on the best approach to meet the needs of partners and customers for medical isotope development.

Essential functions
  • Confers regularly with department heads and staff to develop and implement the most effective technical isotopes strategies that will enable the achievement of both short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Evaluates technical aspects on new research, development and production operations ideas with the intent to support the manufacture of medical isotopes.
  • Analyzes key technical operations and provide cost-effective suggestions for improvements.
  • Oversees lab equipment and resources driving innovation
  • Identifies opportunities and risks in existing portfolio and devises strategies to address
  • Provides strategic insight for new business opportunities
  • Leads, attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training, and development, coaching and mentoring, and performance management.
Competencies
  • Functional knowledge of cGMP and related compliance regulations and guidance
  • Able to independently judge the scientific aspects of the chemistry and solve the problems in project, and able to prepare and lead a work plan.
  • Excellent knowledge of chemistry, especially related to process scale-up
  • Ability to address project challenges by collaborating with internal and external teams.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive and manage effective teams in the transition from R&D to production environments

Required education and experience
  • Master’s degree in Chemistry,
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of hands-on experience performing laboratory research and physical experimentation
  • Experience handling open and sealed radioactive sources.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a department of chemists/chemical engineers
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience serving as department director, establishing and executing strategy in alignment with organizational objectives
Preferred education and experience
  • PhD degree in Chemistry
  • Subject matter expert in process chemistry with experience in production process development
  • Drug development experience
