The NWS pursues its work in a Frank Gehry-designed campus that is uniquely suited to embrace the digital future, for education and artistic expression.Job DescriptionPosition SummaryAssists in high-quality execution of production logistics (including audio, lighting, video production, and stage operations) for events, performances, and other activities at the New World Center for both New World Symphony and its external partners and rental clients.Duties and responsibilities60%: Assist Production staff in timely execution of production logistics and operations including load-in, setup, operation, changeover, tear-down, and load-out of stage equipment (including staging, lighting, audio, and video systems) for rehearsals, events, and performances30%: Assist Production staff in program activity logistics and operations including participating in room setups, changeovers, and teardowns10%: Assist Production staff in regular and scheduled maintenance of equipment and systemsQualificationsEducation and experienceA combination of education and experience commensurate with an undergraduate degree in a performing arts, events and hospitality, logistics, or another related field is preferred. Otherwise qualified applicants without formal educational credits will be considered for this position with at least one year of relevant work experience in a related or similar field.Knowledge, skills and abilitiesGeneral knowledge of performance and event conventions and vocabularyBasic knowledge of musical performance conventions and formsDemonstrated knowledge and skill in at least one of the following areas (or a related field):Stage OperationsLive Audio ProductionLighting (Theatre, Dance, Rock, Events)Video ProductionDemonstrated experience in collaborative teamworkDemonstrated skill in applied problem-solvingDemonstrated ability to interact effectively with coworkers of a diverse group of backgrounds and personalitiesAbility to accurately express and exchange information in time-sensitive performance situationsAbility to assess and determine accurate information for setup of equipment and instruments from diagrams and/or drawingsPhysical requirementsRemains in a stationary position for less than 20% of time when actively performing essential job functionsRegularly ascends and descends stairs and stepladdersConstantly moves, transports, positions, and removes items such as chairs, risers, boxes, tables, instruments, audio equipment, lighting instruments, cabling, and other items that may be bulky or heavy (up to 50 pounds)Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions in South Florida during event setups and operationsAdditional InformationEEO STATEMENT: The New World Symphony is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and is an equal opportunity employer.
