SOUTH CONGRESS HOTEL is hiring for an Overnight Porter

The living room for the neighborhood, South Congress Hotel is an 83-room boutique hotel designed to be a hub of activity for the community. A place for travelers and locals alike, the hotel has three restaurants, a coffee bakeshop, rooftop pool, award-winning Lobby Bar, and two retail spaces, in addition to a range of community events programming open to all. All locally owned, all right at the doorstep of Austin's favorite street.

JOB SUMMARY

A Night Porter will interact with guests and ensure a genuine, warm welcome to the hotel grounds, overall safety, the property's cleanliness, and the exterior public space. You must be able to respond to emergencies and assist guests with safety and security needs. This role will follow the policies, standards, and guidelines established by New Waterloo, the Department of Health, and other applicable government agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

• Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property and access points
• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property 
• Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
• Greet all guests closely and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome and

opening entrance doors

• Drive safely and follow all traffic regulations while parking and returning guest's vehicles
• Ensure that the front lobby, front interior, and exterior entrances are kept clean
• Maintain knowledge of the hotel property, staff, hours of operation, and services; sell the amenities

of the hotel

•  Immediately inform hotel management of any accidents or moving violations
• Carry baggage weighing up to fifty pounds to the guest’s room; respond to requests for bell service as

soon as possible

• Arrange and store luggage carts; use extreme caution to protect guest’s property when loading and

unloading luggage carts

• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property and keep abreast of safety

and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements

• Attempt to limit issues and liability related to excessive drinking by having an awareness of signs of

intoxication, and taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of our guests

• Maintain the highest level of cleanliness for all hotel public areas, including public restrooms, lobby, fitness

center, pool area, and guest corridors as applicable

• Replenish general area guest amenities regularly, including toilet paper, hand towels, hand soap,

etc.

• Ensure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform immediate supervisor and

apply corrective measures when necessary

• Ensure all organization needs are met by ensuring open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc.
• Ensure immediate response is given to any guest comments and concerns, inform the direct supervisor of problems, and assist in implementing corrective measures when necessary.
