New School for Child Development is Hiring a SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER Near Sherman Oaks, CA

 
 

Founded in 1975, The Help Group is the largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit of its kind in the United States serving children with special needs related to autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse and emotional problems.

We are currently seeking a Special Education Teacher for our Sunrise school located at our Sherman Oaks Campus. Sunrise School offers comprehensive special education day school programs for students, ages 5 through 22, with moderate to severe global delays associated with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. The primary goal is to enable each student to realize his or her fullest potential in the areas of independence and skill level across all academic areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Moderate/Severe Credential.
  • Must be Highly Qualified, in accordance with California Department of Education requirements, in the area of specialization. 
  • Teaching experience in a population of Moderate/Severe is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Employ a trans-disciplinary approach to education, conferring with team members as appropriate for particular issues. 
  • Select appropriate curriculum content for each student.
  • Determine appropriate, measurable goals and objectives for each student.
  • Write Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, participate in I.E.P. meetings, and implement IEPs.
  • Manage student behavior.
  • Evaluate student progress and collect data.
  • Supervise classroom staff.
  • Work with parents.

Salary :

$54,000.00 - 57,000 for PIP/STP/Intern

$64,480.00 - $101,042.00 for Credentialed
