New School for Child Development is Hiring a Special Education Teacher Sunrise School Near Sherman Oaks, CA

We are currently seeking a Special Education Teachers for our Sunrise School on our Culver City Campus!

Sunrise School offers comprehensive special education day school programs for students, ages 5 through 21, with moderate to severe global delays associated with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. The primary goal is to enable each student to realize his or her fullest potential in the areas of independence and skill level across all academic areas.

With a multidisciplinary team of professionals, Sunrise provides a wide range of learning opportunities that foster growth in all essential areas. This integrated educational program promotes communicative, behavioral, academic, motor, adaptive and independent living skills, as well as social and emotional.

EXCITING RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Plan, coordinate and implement individual student programs
  • Select appropriate curriculum content for each student
  • Determine appropriate, measurable goals and objectives for each student
  • Write individual education plans (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings
  • Employ a trans-disciplinary approach to education, conferring with team members as appropriate for particular issues
  • Prepare or secure necessary instructional materials
  • Modify activities and adapt materials to promote student success
  • Design and use instructional grouping patterns that are varied and flexible, including individual, small group, and whole class instruction
  • Employ clear, predictable daily and weekly schedules, which accommodate students' needs
  • Prepare a weekly plan book to detail lesson plans, grouping, activities, staff assignments, and other relevant information
  • Employ appropriate, individualized teaching and reinforcement techniques to maximize student achievement

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelors in Education or a related field is required.
  • Mild/moderate Special Education credential is required; OR the ability to qualify for an Intern Credential, Provisional Internship Permit or Short-Term Staff Permit (CBEST certification is required to qualify for these permits).
  • Experience teaching students with autism and/or learning disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience teaching Spanish to students in a professional setting.

Salary 

$48,916.00 - $54,000.00 for PIP/STP/Intern

$59,107.00- $92,500 for Credentialed
