New Opportunities Inc is Hiring a Family Development Specialist (LEP) (Case Manager) Near Waterbury, CT

Full-Time, Union, Non-Exempt Position
$19.08 per hour, 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday
BASIC FUNCTION OF FAMILY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (LEP):
This position supports the mission, vision and values of New Opportunities, Inc., by providing FDC programs and customers with appropriate support, information and training to deliver services for agency-wide FDC services and to clients who have Limited English Proficiency. Coordinate and administer training, assessments and quality improvement efforts to comply with the LEP contract. Under FDC administrative direction, plan, organize, and coordinate Limited English Proficiency activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF FAMILY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (LEP):
  • Assist FDC offices in conducting assessments to identify client's language assistance needs in addition to at least one barrier to self-sufficiency.
  • Ensure the client intake forms (hard copy or electronic) identify a "Language Field "such as "Language Spoken at Home" or "Primary and Secondary Languages"
  • Utilize approved Self-Sufficiency Outcome Scale Matrix "English Language Proficiency" (LEP) scale administered to identify potential clients
  • Identifies and implements LEP service improvement for all programs. Assist with gathering and analyze data for the ongoing reports.
  • Works with the FDC leadership and staff to create trainings, resources, policies and procedures that ensure good quality care.
  • Promotes and demonstrates NOI's mission, vision and values through both behavior and job performance on a day to day basis
  • Effectively interacts and communicates with other FDC staff/clients/providers/partners/etc.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform other essential functions of the job
  • Assist FDC Directors with providing training to new staff
  • Build community partnerships which support the needs of the LEP families
  • Other related duties as assigned by FDC directors

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS OF FAMILY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (LEP):
Education:
Bachelor or Master Degree in Human Services field requirement
Experience:
  • 4-year degree in Human Services, Social Work or any other related degree
  • Translation Experience
  • Other combinations of education and experience which demonstrate a candidate's ability to perform the above services may meet the requirements of this position.
