This Opportunity

We have a really neat opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students we serve! Our Recess Monitors are staples in our students' day. Their relationships with our students give our kids a sense of safety and stability. We seek Christian role models with a heart for Jesus and children, interested in knowing and encouraging our students during the least-structured time of their day. This position is performed outdoors (unless raining or temps too frigid), so a desire for fresh air fun is a must! A part of our mission is to ensure our students feel known, loved, and valued. Our monitors are vital to helping us accomplish this goal. 

Job Purpose 

Supervise and lead early ed children (Preschool-Pre-k) during lunch and recess, providing life skills instruction, social-emotional skills support, and care. 

Hours 

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Monday through Friday 

Essential Job Duties 

• Encourage children during recess to explore, play, and be creative. 

• Support children in their social challenges while at recess, providing guidance and caring encouragement.

• Oversee children in the gym, classrooms, or outside on the playground area to ensure safety while they play.

• Work and communicate with classroom teachers regarding students as needed. 

• Oversee a smooth transition from classroom to lunchroom and playground and back to classroom. 

• Ensure that all safety and staffing protocols are followed according to licensing guidelines. 

• Communicate updates and/or observations with the Lower School Principal on a weekly basis. 

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in formal educational or church programs.
• Strong Christian values and heart for children and service to others.
• Attendance at church that aligns with born-again beliefs.
• High School diploma.

Work Setting

• This position requires walking and standing during the majority of the shifts, indoors and outdoors, on stable and unstable ground. 
• This position is performed in hot and cold weather; severe weather moves recess indoors to classrooms and gyms.
