Description

Youth Activities Manager

This is an opportunity to influence the lives of our students by planning, developing, and coordinating high quality, engaging after-school, summer, and extracurricular programs. The manager is responsible for the development and marketing the summer and after-school programs for lower school and early education students. In addition, this position supports the activities department at the middle and upper school levels. We are someone to radiate enthusiasm and compassion in a fun, Christ-centered environment and to partner with families to create an unforgettable, positive experience for students.

Job Responsibilities

Essential

  • Create a vision for after school and summer programming at New Life Academy that aligns with NLA’s mission to educate and energize each student to impact their world for Jesus Christ and to reach their potential in scholarship, leadership, and service out of love for God and one another
  • Plan, develop, coordinate and oversee all after school and summer programming.
  • Assist the activities director with scheduling, registration, and game management.

After School Programming

  • Oversee and lead Eaglet Club and Academy Adventures coordinators to ensure that daily activities for students are planned and executed to enrich existing programming.
  • Manage the application process and hiring for all after school employees alongside the EE Director and Lower School Principal.
  • Develop, coordinate and schedule after school enrichment classes and clubs (Lego, Art, Science, etc.) which build on the mission of New Life Academy
  • Work alongside Early Education Director to ensure that all State of MN Rule 3 requirements are followed
  • Schedule staffing of after school programs to ensure that all students are supervised, and student/teacher ratios are met at all times
  • Communicate with families regarding scheduling changes, programming needs, discipline, and day to day information
  • Approve timecards and payroll for all after school staff

Summer Programming

  • Map out and schedule all summer programming for children ages 3 years-8th grade
  • Oversee the daily activity of the Summer Blast program and camps
  • Plan, develop, and schedule all field trips (off-site and on-site)
  • Schedule and reserve all transportation needs for off-site field trips
  • Schedule, coordinate, and lead all staff trainings (CPR/First Aid/Summer Blast Set Up and Training Week)
  • Process all registrations for Summer Blast program and Summer Enrichment Camps
  • Assists in developing and implementing marketing and promotional materials for camps and Blast programming into database.
  • Work with lead teachers to develop and implement curriculum
  • Ensure that all participants are supervised at all times during summer programming.
  • Work alongside Early Education Director to ensure that all State of MN Rule 3 requirements are followed
  • Inform staff of health needs of students, provide families with necessary medical forms to complete
  • Process all registrations for Summer Blast program and Summer Enrichment Camps
  • Communicate with families regarding schedule changes, programming needs, and day to day communication
  • Schedule staffing for Summer Blast program to ensure that all students are supervised at all times, and student/teacher ratios are met at all times

Activities Department Support

  • Provide input and implementation of scheduling of facilities for extra-curricular activities
  • Process athletic registrations
  • Assist with set-up and management of after school games and performances
  • Communicate with coaches and advisors about rosters and medical needs of registered participants
  • Actively supporting additional projects initiated by the Activities Director

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of prior experience overseeing youth programming; prior summer camp or classroom experience preferred.

Required Skills and Qualities

  • Poised, inviting professional presence and professional personal presentation
  • Engaging and courteous phone communication skills
  • Skilled in phone conversations and follow up as part of a sales process
  • Attention to the need for quick turnaround for communication with prospect families
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Ability to present to medium-size (20-60 people) audiences
  • Professional, thoughtful written communication ability
