POSITION OVERVIEW

The Junior Accountant will be responsible for assisting with month-end accounting related duties including accounts payable, as well as scholarship administration for multiple schools. This position will report to and work directly with the Senior Accounting Manager and Scholarship Team Lead to ensure all tasks are performed in a timely manner and within the parameters of the procedures set in place. This position is based in our corporate office located in Plymouth, MN.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist with scholarship administration for the first 3-6 months (locating and tracking the status of required paperwork)

• Review and submit new scholarship applications received from our schools.

• Collect award letters and all applicable information needed for account set up.

• Prepare/submit claims and apply payments to ledgers.

• Perform accounts payable functions which entail coding of invoices, obtaining proper approvals, etc.
• Assist with general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and other month end close related tasks.
• Gathering documentation for projects
• Monitoring credit card activity and documentation

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent including work in related field
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge and expertise in using Excel
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Strong time management and project management skills
• Sense of responsiveness with the ability to multitask
