Are you a dynamic and dedicated individual passionate about community service and nourishing the older demographic in our community?

The New Hanover County Senior Resource Center invites you to join our team as a Nutrition Program Assistant .

As a Nutrition Program Assistant, your primary role will be to support our Home Delivered Meals and Congregate nutrition programs, helping to provide daily nourishment for our senior community aged 60 and above.

We're seeking an individual with excellent customer service and communication skills, able to effectively collaborate in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Your responsibilities will include working closely with a team to facilitate the smooth running of our nutrition programs and passionately serving the New Hanover County community.

Essential duties include :

  • Engage in tasks involving prolonged periods of standing and repetitive motions, particularly during the setup, serving, and cleanup of various nutrition programs.
  • Adhere strictly to all applicable safety and hygiene regulations, including but not limited to federal and state food safety codes, and environmental health regulations.
  • Foster a clean, friendly, and welcoming environment for all participants, showcasing a consistent standard of excellent customer service.
  • Step in to address volunteer shortages by delivering meals to homebound seniors, being prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to changing needs.
  • Master and utilize the ServTracker software program for meticulous record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information on all clients.
  • Assess and register eligible clients, staying on top of periodic reassessments to maintain a streamlined and efficient operation.
  • Utilize software program to for daily nutrition reporting.

Hours :

Monday - Friday 7 : 30 am - 3 : 30 pm

Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.

Employment Type :

Full time, non-exempt

Salary Information :

The hiring range for this position is $36,325 - $49,038 annually

Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and two years of experience related to the program area of assignment;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and iPhone usage
  • Ability to become proficient in nutrition reporting software
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Capacity to lift up to 45 lbs. and remain active for over an hour
  • Completion of a ServSafe certification course within the first month of employment

Licenses / Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
  • Must maintain a ServSafe Food Safety and Sanitation Certification
