New Day Treatment Center is Hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Near Queens, NY

New Day Treatment is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Part-Time, 10-16 hours per week, non-exempt/hourly). This position will report to the Director of Clinical Services and the Medical Director.

Our ideal candidate is energetic; Strong medical and clinical skills; excellent communication with the ability to effectively engage colleagues, patients and families and other stakeholders in treatment; ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team delivery setting; working knowledge of Electronic Health Records and Prescribing systems.

Overview of Position:

The Nurse Practitioner provides medical/ psychiatric evaluations, treatment, training, and consultation services to all agency program areas. The position works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of the medical director, LMHC, CASAC, CASAC-T, peer advocate faculty, and other direct care staff. Provides clinical assessments of SUD patients and provides expert assistance in the development, delivery, and monitoring of effective treatment interventions for patients in all program areas. This position also provides psychiatric crisis evaluations and individual counseling sessions, as appropriate and assigned by the Director.

General Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provides psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, MAT and medication management to assigned caseload within an integrated treatment team and participate in all assigned treatment team meetings.
  • Provides training to staff regarding mental health, psychotropic medications, behavioral dynamics, and support agency efforts to provide effective, trauma informed treatment and foster professional development of clinical and other agency staff.
  • Serves as a resource for clinical staff.
  • Provide medical oversight to OASAS and OMH licensed program areas as assigned and required by relevant state regulations.
  • Assist with agency efforts to educate and engage family members and referral agency representatives in a patient’s treatment to foster lasting healing, recovery, and stability.

Qualifications - Required:

  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry
  • Demonstrates motivation to positively support agency mission, philosophy, and expectations.
  • Knowledge of effective behavioral interventions, assessments
  • Familiarity with relevant DOH, OASAS, OMH, Medicaid, and commercial insurance regulations
  • Licensed and currently registered as such by the New York State Education Department and have at least one year of education, training, and/or experience in substance use disorder services.
  • Federal Data 2000 Waiver to prescribe buprenorphine

Preferred:

  • Experience working cooperatively in a multidisciplinary setting and providing consultation within a team-based service delivery design.
  • Experience working within CSE/ SED, OMH, OASAS, OCFS licensed settings.
  • Experience working with outpatient CD/MH, residential treatment center services.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records, ePrescribing and other means of modern medical documentation/ communication
