Calling all Lifeguards!!
As summer is approaching, the New Canaan YMCA is looking for additional Lifeguards (and/or Swim Instructors).
Working as a lifeguard gives great flexibility, working one (or several!) shifts a week, at a time that meets your availability. An added bonus is that every employee recieves free membership to our Y!
Our pools are open from 5:30am to 9pm during the week, 7:30am to 6:30pm on Saturdays, and 7:30am to 5pm on Sundays - shifts are usually 3 hours
Join our team, working in our beautiful Aquatic Center - home to 3 pools (2 competitive and one family/therapy pool). During the summer we expand to offer aquatics at the Steve Benko pool at Waveny Park as well as our Camp Y-Ki program at Kiwanis park.
Shifts can be flexible based on interest and staffing needs - and Early Shifts and Weekends have an hourly wage differential!
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, lifeguards provide quality surveillance, and act swiftly and professionally in emergency situations.
We expect our Lifeguards to be observant to their surroundings, understanding of safety rules and policies, and able to communicate with swimmers, instructors, and other staff to maintain order and safety in the pool and on deck.
