Calling all Lifeguards and Swim Instructors!!

The New Canaan YMCA is looking for additional Lifeguards and/or Swim Instructors. 

Join our team, working in our beautiful Aquatic Center - home to 3 pools (2 competitive and one family/therapy pool) for one or more shifts per week.

This is a great part-time opportunity for students, retirees, or anyone wanting to stay actively employed with flexible scheduling. 

Our biggest needs are early morning (with a shift differential!) beginning at 5:30am but we also would like additional day-time guards.

Shifts can be flexible based on interest and staffing needs, available from 5:30am until 9pm during the week, 7:30am to 6:30pm on Saturdays, and 7:30am to 5pm on Sundays. (Early Shifts and Weekends have an hourly wage differential!
 
Under the direction of the Director of Aquatic Operations and Safety, lifeguards provide quality surveillance, and act swiftly and professionally in emergency situations.

 We expect our Lifeguards to be observant to their surroundings, understanding of safety rules and policies, and able to communicate with swimmers, instructors, and other staff to maintain order and safety in the pool and on deck.

Requirements include:

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate or equivalent.
• Ability to swim continuously for 300 yards.
• Perform all tasks necessary for water rescue.
