New Braunfels, City of (TX) is Hiring a Seasonal Lead Cashier (Landa Park - Boat House/Mini-Golf) Near New, TX

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, assists in coordinating recreation programs and facilitating use of City facilities to ensure customer satisfaction and safety for employees, clients and visitors at Parks and Recreation Department facilities and programs.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
 
  • Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality and consistent programs and services to the community.
  • Assists cashiers and attendants in managing cash transactions and providing customer service to guests.
  • Manages cash and reporting for facilities and assists staff in cash handling procedures in accordance with departmental cash handling policy. 
  • Prepares and assists in maintaining and facilitating the use of venues including but not limited to Landa Park Miniature Golf and Landa Boat House to ensure a safe condition and to meet community and guest needs; must be in compliance with the City’s strategic objectives, policies and procedures, and State and Federal laws.
  • Assists staff with activity programming and crowd control measures.
  • Assists in promoting recreation programs, City facilities and city-wide special events coordination and setup including guest party facilitation. 
  • Performs basic administrative activities including accident/injury and work activity reports.
  • Monitors facility and equipment use by the public.
  • Performs basic grounds keeping and janitorial tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Must be sixteen (16) years of age AND one (1) year customer service/public interaction experience preferred.

Required Licenses or Certifications:
  • Must possess or be able to obtain within two (2) weeks of employment: Community First Aid and Safety/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
Required Knowledge of:
  • Principles and practices of customer service.
  • Principles and practices of cash handling.
  • Federal and State safety laws and regulations.
Required Skill in:
  • Interpreting customer and facility needs and solving customer service and public relations issues.
  • Analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals. 
  • Responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the general public.
  • Effective, clear and concise communication, both verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals; is subject to sitting, standing, bending and reaching for extended periods of time swimming, riding in or operating motorized or manually operated watercraft and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including weekdays, weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Must be willing to operate boat or enter water to assist patrons.
  • May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
  • NOTE: This position is designated safety and/or security sensitive.
