Nevados is a distributed organization with many team members working remotely, while other roles require an in office and on-site presence. Nevados is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This person will be focused on AP and responsible for performing daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payments to vendors while safeguarding against errors. Reporting to the Controller, your role will involve reconciling accounts, managing cash flow, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role can be based remotely but preference may be given to candidates based in Pacific Standard Timezone. Prior NetSuite experience highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts payable data, ensuring payments are made to vendors in a timely manner, protecting against unintentional overpayment, verifying, and investigating discrepancies, and resolving all payables-related issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank payment transactions, preparing and processing vendor payments via electronic fund transfers and wires, and posting of cash to the accounts payable sub-ledger.
  • Understand expense accounts, cost centers, and compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)
  • Reconcile Accounts payable sub-ledger to the bank and to general ledger account balances, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare journal entries, analysis, account reconciliations, and support monthly close processes.
  • Follow the documentation retention policy to maintain accounting files.
  • Perform accounting analysis and reporting to support decision-making purposes.
  • Assess internal controls, maintaining documentation for accounts payable, outstanding payments, and treasury.
  • Monitor the need for business process improvements and assist with the design processes, procedures, and reporting enhancements to improve financial and operational processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP, exercising integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting, and complying with national and local financial requirements.
Requirements
  • 3 years of proven working experience as a Staff Accountant, or equivalent, with general ledger accounting activities and high volume accounts payable.
  • Knowledgeable in accounts payable practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • NetSuite experience highly preferred.
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize and meet daily and weekly deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Advanced MS Excel ability; Vlookups, Pivots, If statements, statistical formulas, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.

$50,000 - $90,000 a year

Actual base salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
