NETC-HEALTH Lab Services is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner Near Orlando, FL

Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner - DOT Examiner is responsible for conducting comprehensive physical examinations in accordance with the standards and guidelines set by the Department of Transportation. The primary objective is to assess the physical and mental health of commercial vehicle drivers to ensure they are capable of operating vehicles safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations of commercial drivers, following DOT guidelines and regulations.
  • Evaluate medical history, perform physical assessments, and conduct necessary medical tests to determine fitness for driving commercial vehicles.
  • Identify and assess any medical conditions that might impair a driver’s ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle.
  • Provide counseling and education to drivers regarding health maintenance and the importance of monitoring and managing medical conditions.
  • Complete and sign medical examination reports and certification forms as required by DOT regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT standards, regulations, and best practices related to commercial driver health and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and follow-up if needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of medical records and examination results.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
  • Certification by the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) to conduct DOT physicals.
  • Excellent clinical skills, with a strong foundation in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Knowledge of the specific physical and mental demands associated with operating commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • Work settings may vary, including private practices, occupational health clinics, and mobile health units.
  • The role may require flexibility in hours, including possible evenings and weekends, to accommodate drivers’ schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical examinations, including maneuvering around to conduct thorough assessments.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity required for detailed examinations and completion of forms.
