Maintenance Technician

1st shift - 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm

$30.00 - $38.00 hr BOE

Job Summary :

Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment;

coordinates maintenance and repair of electrical power, lighting and transportation equipment by performing the following duties.

Daily Activities will Include :

• Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment including conveyors and programmable controllers.
• Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
• Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
• Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
• Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.
• Replaces faulty electrical components of the machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sending devices.
• Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
• Pushes buttons and presses keys on the programmable controller to program automated machinery, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
• Analyzes and resolves electrical problems or assists workers in solving electrical problems.
• Plans layout or wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
• Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

Technical school degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
