Job Summary:
This position is responsible for developing cost estimates and construction schedules ranging from rough-order-of-magnitude level to detailed working cost estimates, guiding owner selections, and presenting the results in a format suitable for use by the client and design team. We are looking for someone who has excellent people and communication skills and can think outside of the box for creative problem-solving.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Meet and collaborate with clients, engineers, and other staff to understand the products being developed.
• Re-enforce our value proposition and strengthen relationships with owners, contractors, suppliers and new customers in conjunction with the Business Development Leader.
• Maintain and grow client portfolio with new and existing customers. • Attend pre-bid meetings.
• Manage and organize invitations to bid and requests for proposal (RFP). Review Notice to Procced letters (NTP), and contracts for scope and price accuracy.
• Analyze project specifications and drawings to compile project notes, RFI’s, and scope development.
• Measure buildings, verify dimensions, perform test cuts when necessary.
• Complete take off and estimate with the Edge Estimating Software.
• Handle estimating functions, to include bids, pricing, and change orders.
• Review and analyze existing and proposed processes, staff, and materials; identifies costreduction opportunities.
• Draft and develop detailed proposals and cost estimates for projects based on data analysis and research; distributes reports to project managers, engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Prepares reports forecasting production scenarios; makes recommendations based on findings.
• Work with Project Managers to perform project handoffs, resolve disputes with clients, and help resolve past due accounts efficiently.
• Identify opportunities within the estimates to outperform estimated cost and coordinate with the project management and production teams.
• Participate in job completion financial analysis, track performance metrics and bid results.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• 1 year experience and knowledge of project managing / estimating in commercial roofing or HVAC.
• Knowledge of commercial roofing with single-ply, asphalt, cold applied, hot applied and metal projects, preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create forecasts based on financial data.
• Preferred experience with Edge Estimating.
• Ability to analyze specifications and drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma / GED
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
