Art Therapist/Life Skills Position for Neighborhood Service Organization Life Choices
Qualifications:
• LPC, LLPC, LLC, ATR-P, ATR-BC, State of Michigan Social Service Technician Registration (RSST)
• Minimum of one year experience working with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD) population
• Basic computer skills
• Additional certification as Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP), Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), and Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) with trainings available through Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.
Responsibilities/Expectations:
This is a clinical position providing art therapy and life skills instructions to individuals, families, and groups in accordance with the mission, values, and strategic plan for NSO.
• Five days per week (37.5 hours) provide in-person and/or virtual interventions to increase IDD self-care via planned art experientials and/or life skills activities
• One Saturday per month group birthday event
• Identify/order and maintain art supplies
• Participates in case conferences regarding consumers functioning
• Performs and completes assessments for consumers
• Daily documentation in compliance with NSO with expectation of 80-100 consumers per week
• Work with NSO Corporate Development to identify/establish/facilitate group field trips
• Work with NSO Corporate Development to identify/establish/facilitate HIPPA-compliant photographic opportunities of art products for social media postings
• Work with NSO Human Resources to onboard interns
• Supervise art therapy and professional counseling interns from WSU and other universities
• Work with Corporate Development to work with community-based volunteer organizations
• Oversee retail Art Microenterprise program at Life Choices and community-based sites
• Facilitate Consumer Advisory Council meetings four times per year
• Keep current with continuing education
• Demonstrates functional area of expertise leveraging unique core of knowledge and skills to achieve results
• Open to new approaches and takes steps to increase knowledge, skills, and abilities inside and outside of NSO
