Summary:
 
 Direct supervision of staff during work shift. The kitchen manager ensures that the daily food handling of the site is carried out correctly. Responsible for monitoring all activities that correspond with long term facility goals and all federal, state and city regulations.
 
Responsibilities:
 The Kitchen manager is responsible for, but not limited to:
 
  •  Ensures that food handlers follow organization’s policies and procedures, including but not limited to conflict resolution.
  •  Oversees a team of food handlers
  •  Recruiting, supervising, monitoring and evaluating food handlers’ members to ensure they successfully perform routine daily, weekly, and periodic tasks
  •  Establishing and implementing schedules and work assignments for food handlers.
  •  Ensuring that food is properly handled and prepped.
  •  Receiving and storing deliveries of food, beverages, supplies and other related items.
  •  Receiving of invoice and ensuring all items are accounted for.
  •  Maintaining a log of all PPD’s and food handlers license to ensure we are in compliance with state regulations.
  •  Ensuring food handlers maintain a signed log of all meals provided to the clients.
  • Maintaining personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform policies and standards
  •  Caring for and using related equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  •  Following established procedure for clean up; including sweeping, mopping, and washing
  •  Work diplomatically to solve problems with the staff
  • Ensuring that food handlers are properly following established procedures for disposal, etc,
  •  Assisting in complying with city, state and federal building codes and industry standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  •  Providing proper storage and care for food and supplies
  •  Maintaining food preparation and cooking area clean, neat, and orderly manner, including the refrigerators, freezers, ovens, steam tables, warmers and pantry.
 Professional & Personal Qualifications:
 
  • At least (1) year of facility food handling and or/housekeeping, preferably in a residential facility
  •  High school Diploma/GED is required
  •  Food Handler certificate NYC/NYS
  •  TB Testing – with NCS results
  •  CPR / First Aid preferred
  •  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) preferred
  •  Able to operate related equipment, tools, and materials used in facility
  •  Proven ability to work collaboratively well with diverse groups
  •  Proven ability to handle multiple tasks effectively under pressure
