ncsu-sb is Hiring an Associate Director, Business Development and External Relations Near Raleigh, NC

Part of the College of Engineering, BTEC is a unique, cross-disciplinary instructional center that provides educational and training opportunities to develop skilled professionals for the biomanufacturing industry and to create the best-trained, most industry-focused workforce possible. BTEC collaborates with many organizations including biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, vendors, government agencies, and academic institutions for research, development, workforce training, and more.This is a permanent staff position that will report to the Director, of Industry Programs and Research. The Associate Director, Business Development and External Relations will work effectively and collaboratively with BTEC leadership and staff to create, nurture, and expand existing relations and partnerships by fostering programs that bridge BTEC and their partners, further develop BTEC’s existing external engagement programs (research, contract services, and professional development), as well as developing and executing on a vision for BTEC marketing and new engagement opportunities including fundraising, alumni relations, donations, scholarships, and K-12 outreach.Essential job responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to the following:Direct all aspects of BTEC’s corporate relations, including strategic partnership, fundraising, and scholarships. These duties will be approached in conjunction and in coordination with the College of Engineering-wide development functions.Lead business and program development efforts focused on BTEC’s professional development program including writing proposals for potential clients, serving as the initial point of contact, establishing partnerships with subject matter experts to develop a new relevant curriculum, supporting the development and delivery of cost estimates, and tracking prospective partners and similar leads.Coordinate and document all relationship activities related to alumni and corporate engagement including collaborations and fundraising.Coordinate engagement opportunities between students, alumni and corporate partners.Work closely with advisory board members to facilitate and foster engagement.Facilitate and support proposal creation for funding opportunities in research, contract services and professional development.Direct external communication efforts including brand management, marketing strategies, social media, press releases, newsletters, etc. Part of this will include coordination with College of Engineering communications.Oversee content creation for various BTEC communications including promotional videos, electronic mailings, feature stories, electronic displays, and printed advertisement.Provide leadership to K-12 outreach with focus on attracting and retaining diverse talent of exceptional quality.Collaborate with BTEC’s leadership to shape strategies around corporate partners, BTEC programs, alumni, and current students.
