This position will report to the Assistant controller and will be responsible for performing a variety of general accounting duties daily.

• Support the monthly close and year-end close processes, including both internal & external audits.
• Preparation of monthly financial reporting packages
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis (Cash, prepaid insurance and expenses, A/P, A/R)
• Analyzing and mapping ledger accounts to appropriate reporting categories
• Identify financial issues and collaborate with the supervisor to identify solutions
• Preparation and recording of journal entries
• Reconcile billings and collections related to contract work. A1A Billing familiarity preferred.
• Posting of outside asphalt invoices. Collections and review of AR Aging related to outside sales.
• Prepare and execute releases to ensure timely collections.
• Maintain receipt log and ensure timely deposits.
• Assist in the development of system controls to ensure data integrity
• Assist in development of operational procedures and documentation of workflow
• Other responsibilities as required (general accounting duties)

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 1-3 years of General Accounting Experience
• Previous construction industry experience strongly preferred
• General Ledger, Profit and Loss and Balance Statements, Work in progress schedules and revenue recognition, GAAP procedures
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Sage/Timberline a plus
