Nationalities Service Center is Hiring an Accounting Manager Near Philadelphia, PA

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Accounting Manager manages and assist Management Team with drafting, implementing, and monitoring NSC’s finance functions, fiscal policies, and financial management pertaining to grant compliance and labor relations. Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Accounting Manager will manage and support the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable, internal and external audits, financial reporting, and budgeting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Month-End process is performed timely and accurately.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations, ensuring all basic accounting functions are being performed properly.
  • Perform various account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies timely.
  • Coordinate with and provide support to the Finance Committee.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to provide support and data requests as they relate to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assist Director of Finance & Accounting to formulate, determine and effectuate management policies with regard to labor relations
  • Assist the Director of Finance and Accounting in creating cash flow projections, expense reports, revenue forecasts, and all other relevant fiscal reports
  • Tracking, monitoring, and communicating on accounts receivables, including providing reporting on outstanding receivables by program.
  • Work in partnership with cross-departmental leadership teams to review monthly financials, including variance comments for several executive committees.
  • Support the audit process with responsibility for key schedules, restricted assets schedule, and other cash, receivables related testing.
  • Provide support across the organization to ensure transactions are reported consistently, including coding and examination against budgeted expenses.
  • Liaise with other departments to obtain information to insure accurate accruals for revenue and expenses.
  • Recommend and develop improvements to the internal controls.
  • As the organization evolves, this manager role can expand to full supervisory responsibilities for junior associates.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree, and/or relevant professional experience in related field, preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting or related field.
  • Previous experience with Federal grants and or not-for-profit environment a plus
  • Demonstrated expertise using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Growth mindset, inspired to innovate and solve problems
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks by carefully setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and scheduling time efficiently. 
  • Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner and follow-up and follow-through with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with other people through a cooperative effort.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community.
  • Adheres to all NSC policies and procedures.

  • COVID-Vaccine - NSC has determined that requiring that all staff who are working on-site be fully vaccinated is the best way to protect our employees and the community.
  • Working in the office is required for the Philadelphia office and other locations as well as offsite travel when necessary. NSC is currently operating on a hybrid remote/office schedule.

LOCATION AND HOURS: This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Philadelphia office with the potential for hybrid work as team needs allow. Our regular hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and this position requires working occasional evenings and weekends. We have COVID-19 safety protocols in place, and we revisit and update them in accordance with city, state, and federal guidelines.

COMPENSATION: The salary range is $55,000-$58,000 commensurate with experience. The benefits package includes generous vacation and sick leave; paid sabbatical leave; summer hours; 77% employer-paid health, dental, and vision coverage; short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance, 403(b) with an employer match.
