NATIONAL SALVAGE AND SERVICE CORPORATION is Hiring a Laborer (Railroad Division) Near Bloomington, IN

National Salvage & Service Corporation is an industry leading specialty contractor and a growing company with current openings for Railroad Laborers. If you enjoy traveling and working outside, this is the career for you. This is a great position for someone with equipment operator experience who has worked outside on farms or general construction. National’s railroad division is now hiring hard-working, dependable individuals as Laborers/Torch Cutting Operators.

This position requires 100% travel.

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Boom truck operator experience preferred
  • Skid steer operator experience preferred
  • CDL preferred
  • Measure and mark sections of steel rail
  • Cut rail with a torch
  • Operate the cutting pickup truck both on and off the track
  • Sort by hand OTM (Other Track Material such as plates, spikes, and anchors)
  • Participate in all job briefings and comply with track protection limits
  • Understand and follow all safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Torch cut rail as needed in off-track staging areas

Position-specific Competencies

  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required with reliable transportation.
  • Able to consistently work 60 hours per week
  • Standing, walking, and bending over repeatedly
  • Able to repeatedly lift 75 pounds
  • Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality
  • Must work well with others on a team
  • Basic use of a smart phone
  • Able to consistently travel four weeks at a time
  • Typical rotation schedule is four weeks of work and travel, followed by one week off
  • Must not have any criminal convictions within the last seven years; must not have completed a jail sentence or probation within the last five years
